Nashville Zoo Animal Health Center Breaks Ground

Groove Construction is proud to announce that our team will be helping build the new Nashville Zoo Animal Health Center. The formal groundbreaking ceremony for the state-of-the-art facility was held at the end of last month.

This is only the latest project in Groove’s long-running relationship with great people at the Nashville Zoo, including our prior work on the Africa-themed Entry Village and the iconic Tiger Bridge.

The new Animal Health Center will include a 20,000+ square foot facility with areas for observation, diagnosis, radiology, surgery, laboratory, pharmacy, and administrative operations. Visitors will be able to observe animal surgeries and treatments in a specially designed observation gallery with views of the hospital’s nursery.

Groove Already Working at New Health Center

Groove began work earlier this month by installing Parallam PSL timbers over the center’s outdoor deck areas and entryways. Our work also will include building the curved deck area for the previously mentioned observation gallery.

Closer to the end of the build, we will be installing a rain screen/wall-waterproofing system using patented Accoya wood on the center’s exterior. We also will use Accoya wood, a modified timber that is guaranteed to resist the elements for 50 years, to build the massive wood logo at the front of the building that features silhouettes of two giraffes.
